I came across the video presented below over at Dave Knox’s blog Hard Knox Life (he’s a Brand Manager at P&G), who in turn found it at Feed: The Digital Design Blog.  It was previewed at the Wharton Business Technology Conference by Microsoft Labs – looking at “Microsoft 2019“.

The video shows how mobile might meet retail in the future.  However,  I don’t see it as being 10 years away.  Tesco already have the analytics behind this conceot as well as a mobile MVNO (Tesco mobile).  Let’s see if we can make this a reality in 10 months not 10 years – even as a trial service.  The video is worth watching and is just under 2.5 minutes long.

Interestingly, Tesco.com’s head of R&D is also thinking of involving customer mobile phones in the shopping experience — see http://techfortesco.blogspot.com/2009/01/lure-of-dual-mode-mobile-phones.html

Maybe we’re not so far away after all…
