Personalised outdoor advertisingI saw this outdoor ad in a London underground lift just before Christmas. It also reminds me of a similar ad on a digital escalator panel (DEP) in Bond Street in London some months ago.
I wonder if CBS Outdoor actually expected Joe to be in this tube lift on the way home from a meeting with [...]

Google’s unique method of choosing phones for testingOver at the official Google mobile blog, I saw this very funny short video that shows how the mobile devices team choose devices for testing and which ones they will develop mobile applications for. Apparently they have over 800 phones for testing!
Quoting from their blog: “We’ve put together a video that gives you a behind-the-scenes glimpse [...]

I had the pleasure of meeting Tomi at the Future of Mobile conference in London and also shared a stage with him at the IIR Mobile Content conference. Tomi is well known in the industry for his no-nonsense approach to mobile, and his hundreds of anecdotes about how we are using mobiles around the world are widely quoted.
As a humble blogger, to have Tomi write to me and ask if London Calling would like to carry an excerpt of his report is a real honour – and he even mentioned my blog by name – so I’m now on Tomi’s radar!
You can download an extract from Tomi’s report or visit the blog related to the report and book.
Thanks Tomi for the insight in the report and I look forward to seeing you again in London on January 15th at the Every Single One Of Us Powwow.
In pure Tomi style – his “extract” contains all of the best bits, and is quite hard to summarise in a single post. Quoting from the report:
The Tomi Ahonen Consulting Report “7th Mass Media in 2008″ is now available directly from the consultancy. The 212 page report is released in electronic file form as acorporate licence and costs only £499 (€699 / $US899).
The 7th Mass Media Report covers the full mass media opportunity for mobile and covers the overall industry size; the factors that enable the services, such as handsets, networks, subscribers and subscriptions, revenue-sharing, etc.
The report also includes in depth analysis of all major content categories such as music, gaming, video, TV picture downloads, news, advertising, adult entertainment, jokes, gambling, education, etc.
Detailed analysis includes user numbers, revenues, content-specific installed base of handsets, age and regional breakdowns, Average Revenues, Revenues per active users, etc.
I’m almost finished Tomi’s excellent book, and will post a review of it on the site shortly.
